About the Position

Must have ACLS certification. Must have BLS certification. Must have ICU experience. Description: This is an ICU nursing position. The unit has 16 beds. Patient ratios are typically 2:1, sometimes 1:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity and staffing. There is a unit secretary staffed during dayshift. Occasional nurse externs work as technicians. Equipment includes ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, and EV 1000. The documentation system used is Meditech. Minimum weekend requirement is 4 weekend shifts per schedule. Schedules are created in 4-week increments. Self-scheduling is available to some extent. The manager may adjust shifts to balance the schedule. Contract labor is the first to float, and if there is a staffing need in med/surg, they are expected to float and take the assignment. Staff is expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members. Advanced skills required include insertion of central lines, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, and EVD insertions. The required dress code is navy scrubs, both tops and bottoms. Please refer to unit-specific policies and guidelines for additional information.
