2nd Shift Custodian

The Brooklyn Center Community School (BCCS) District is seeking applicants to join our Custodial Team as 2nd Shift Custodian. A custodian performs intermediate semiskilled trades work cleaning and maintaining the school building interiors and exteriors, and participates in operations and security of the facility. Maintains a clean, sanitary environment for staff, students and public to work, learn and enjoy. Performs related work as apparent or assigned. The current vacancy is at our Elementary Building

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be willing and able to successfully complete the required Health and Safety training curriculum within a specified time frame.
• Verbal communications skills needed to deal with the building users and with fellow employees. As questions arise, they must communicate with the public, answer questions and make decisions on facility use. Written communication skills are needed to leave correspondence with the day employees if problems arise or repairs are needed.
• Basic skills to be able to determine dilution ratios, converting ounces to gallons, etc.
• The ability to estimate time required to perform certain tasks as personnel are taken away from routine assignments to do special set-ups. The ability to determine if requests can be accomplished by the evening staff on the spot or need to be deferred to a later time. Be able to reason with building users when they need something, to enhance the public relations of the district.
• This position requires regular and prompt attendance to ensure the readiness of the school building for student learning.
• Special Engineer license

Pay and Benefits: Based on experience and qualifications. Union approval needed to offer above a step 2.


Step 1- $19.50/hour

Step 2- $20.50/hour

Step 3- $21.91/hour

Step 4- $23.29/hour

Step 5- $24.70/hour

Duty Days: 260/ 12 months
Shifts Times: This is a second shift position during the school year (2:30- 11:00 PM) Summer and school breaks work first shift hours
