Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Location: South Hill, Virginia
Schedule: Flexible 2 5-day workweek with hybrid options
Compensation: $102,244 $178,927 annually, depending on experience

A behavioral health organization in South Hill, Virginia, is seeking a compassionate Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to provide outpatient psychiatric services to adults with a wide range of mental health and substance use conditions.

This opportunity offers excellent scheduling flexibility, limited in-office requirements, dedicated administrative time, and the support of an experienced multidisciplinary team. It is an ideal role for a PMHNP who values meaningful patient relationships, clinical collaboration, and improved access to behavioral healthcare.

• Flexible schedule of 2 5 days per week

• Hybrid model requiring a minimum of two in-office days per month

• Monday Friday scheduling with optional evening hours until 7:00 p.m.

• Approximately 12 patient visits per day

• 30- and 60-minute appointment blocks

• Dedicated administrative time at the beginning and end of each shift

• In-person or virtual interview options

• Panel interview with HR and clinical leadership

• Competitive salary ranging from $102,244 to $178,927 , based on experience

The PMHNP will provide adult behavioral health services to a primarily Medicaid population. Patients may present with single or co-occurring diagnoses, including:

• Depression and anxiety

• Trauma-related disorders

• Schizophrenia

• Bipolar disorder

• ADHD

• Autism spectrum disorder

• Substance use disorders

The successful candidate will bring strong clinical judgment, an approachable bedside manner, and the ability to build trust with patients who have complex behavioral health needs.

You will work alongside a collaborative team that includes:

• Nurses

• Therapists

• Case managers

• Front-desk and scheduling staff

• Clinical and administrative leadership

The organization is transitioning toward the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model, with an emphasis on timely access, coordinated care, and sustainable productivity.

• Master s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing required

• Active or eligible Virginia Nurse Practitioner license required

• Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner required

• At least one year of experience providing nursing or advanced practice services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders preferred

• Strong knowledge of serious mental illness, substance use disorders, diagnostic categories, treatment approaches, counseling theories, and behavioral health services

• Comprehensive knowledge of psychotropic medications, including therapeutic effects and potential side effects

• Ability to assess risk and intervene effectively during crisis situations

• Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered bedside manner

• Valid driver s license and safe driving record required

• Ability to satisfy all required criminal background checks and drug screenings
