Key Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and route them appropriately.
• Perform client intake and notify appropriate staff of the client's arrival.
• Enter patient information into the appropriate databases.
• Assist the volunteer coordinator with the management of volunteers.
• Follow appointment procedures as set by management.
• Follow cash handling procedures when receiving client payments.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Keep the clinic lobby straight and orderly.
• Process lab results as assigned by the Practice Manager.
• Participate in the Performance Improvement Program.
• Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
• Promote effective working relationships and work effectively as part of a team to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
• Work within the context of a primary care medical home, applying a team-based approach to care while partnering with patients and families to promote timely access to care, culturally sensitive and language-appropriate understanding of patient care, continuity of care, and whole-person improvement through appropriate self-management education.
• Attend all required safety training programs and describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
• Attend all required safety education programs.
• Operate assigned equipment and perform all procedures in a safe manner as instructed.
• Maintain the work area and equipment in the condition required by Legacy standards.
• Demonstrate proper body mechanics in all functions.
• Check the patient environment and equipment to ensure safety.
• Report safety concerns promptly to appropriate personnel.
• Follow Legacy's exposure control plans for blood-borne and airborne pathogens.
• Demonstrate knowledge of techniques, procedures, and correct use of protective barrier equipment, including Universal Precautions.
• Assure a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
• Attend annual education programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

• Bilingual in English/Spanish required
• Pleasant, professional, and articulate phone voice
• Ability to multi-task and handle many incoming calls or patients at once
• Efficient and accurate data-entry skills
• Computer literacy and multi-line phone or switchboard experience. If no experience, the prospective receptionist must be able to learn it quickly.
• Basic knowledge such as basic math, alphabetical or numerical filing may also be required.
