Retail Pharmacist - Staten Island, NY

A specialty pharmacy is seeking two experienced pharmacists to support patients with rare and orphan diseases. These roles require comprehensive expertise in specialty pharmacy operations, including patient care coordination and navigating complex drug utilization processes. This opportunity offers a contract position with the potential to transition to a direct hire role.


Location: Staten Island, NY
Contract Duration: 13 weeks with possibility for direct hire
Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime shifts


Key Responsibilities:

• Dispense and manage specialty medications, focusing on rare and orphan drugs.
• Facilitate drug approval and authorization processes by collaborating with healthcare providers and payers.
• Assist patients with access to financial assistance programs such as grants, rebates, and payment plans.
• Provide high-touch clinical services, ensuring clear communication between patients and providers.
• Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy workflow management.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Active, clear, and good-standing Arizona pharmacist license.
• Prior employment specifically in a designated specialty pharmacy setting (retail or mail order), not general retail experience.
• Demonstrated experience with rare disease drug therapies and patient/provider support in specialty pharmacy.
• Strong clinical knowledge combined with effective communication skills.
• Ability to provide a specialty pharmacy reference along with a detailed resume that highlights experience in specific disease states.
