VA Careers - Medical Support AssistantThe Advanced Medical Support Assistant at the GS-6 level provides specialized administrative support for mental health programs by collaborating with interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient care, monitor clinic utilization, and ensure efficient clinic operations. Responsibilities include managing patient scheduling, clinic communications (including with VA and non-VA facilities), processing secure messages, tracking follow-up care, reviewing reports to optimize clinic resources, and maintaining accurate patient records. Other assignments at this level may include, but are not limited to: participates in team meetings and huddles to plan and support patient care, verifies pre-appointment requirements, manages electronic waitlists, performs administrative follow-up actions, and educates providers about shared patients.
