EOE # `Maintenance Worker I Department: Public Works Reports to: City Superintendent ## Position Summary Under the supervision of the City Superintendent, the Maintenance Worker I perform semi-skilled and unskilled manual work associated with the maintenance and repair of city streets, alley ways, city cemetery, parks, and maintenance of the citys water and wastewater systems. The position involves both heavy and light labor. Jobs are assigned in detail with close supervision provided. ## Examples of Work *Makes repairs to streets and alley ways *Repairs potholes with asphalt *Places and works with concrete *Cleans sewer lines *Repairs cracks in street with specialized equipment *Drives dump truck hauling rock and sand *Operates all departmental equipment including loader, trucks, motor grader, street sweeper, tractor(s), mowers, sewer jet, jack hammer, and pickups *Makes repairs to water and sewer lines and systems *Plows snow in the winter and sweeps streets during other periods *Sprays weeds with chemicals *Maintains tools, equipment and shop in good operating order *Assists with Christmas decorations *Reads water meters monthly *Mows grass on public property *Participates in weekend and holiday on-call schedule *Other related duties as deemed necessary or as required
