Registered Nurse - OB/Maternity

This is a 13-week contract position.

Part-time, 2 - 12 hour shifts per week. Night shift, 1900-0730 with weekend rotation.

The Registered Nurse position provides quality nursing care for maternal and newborn patients. The OB RN will also cross train and care for Med Surg/EICU patients, when needed, while cooperating with other professional staff to provide services that reflect the caring philosophy of the hospital.

Responsibilities include:

• Completes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions, and develops individual plans of care.
• Triage patient care based on presenting or expressed symptoms.
• Accurately administer medications and assesses labor progression.
• Manages induction of labor and cervical ripening.
• Handles medical emergencies including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, and others.
• Perform and accurately interpret fetal heart monitoring.
• Manage pregnancy-related concerns such as hypertension and diabetes.
• Assess newborn conditions and recognize situations requiring higher levels of care.
• Perform neonatal resuscitation within scope of practice and certification.
• Monitor for adverse events in newborns and intervene appropriately.
• Promote patient education and involvement in newborn care.
• Identify and alert the provider about patient status changes promptly.
• Communicate effectively with the patient's care team.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Two-year degree in nursing required; four-year degree preferred.
• Must hold and maintain a Wisconsin Registered Nursing license.
• AHA BLS certification within 1 month of hire.
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire.
• ALSO certification within 1 year of hire.
• STABLE certification within 1 year of hire.
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification within 1 year of hire.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
