Job Description Assistant Conductor (Queens, NY 11385) Starting Pay: $29.47/hr. Pay Progression Assistant Conductor/Trainee — $29.47/hr. Assistant Conductor — $29.47/hr. + $1,500 bonus Yard Qualified Conductor — $32.01/hr. Qualified Conductor, LIRR BOR — $34.56/hr. + $1,500 bonus Qualified Conductor, LIRR PC — $38.79/hr. + $1,500 bonus Yard Qualified Certified Engineer/Conductor — $39.47/hr. + $1,500 bonus Fully Qualified Certified Engineer/Conductor — $40.16/hr. + $1,500 bonus Job Duties Assist conductors with train operations and passenger service activities Provide customer assistance and information to passengers Support safe and efficient boarding and exiting of passengers Make announcements and communicate travel information to customers Follow railroad operating rules and safety procedures Work with conductors, engineers, and other transportation personnel Complete the Assistant Conductor training program Pass the Assistant Conductor LIRR written examination Requirements Ability to successfully complete the 8–10 week classroom training program Ability to pass the Assistant Conductor LIRR written examination Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to interact professionally with passengers and coworkers Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage Group life insurance Optional supplemental insurance plans Paid time off Holiday pay Vacation days Personal days Company perks 401(k) plan Railroad Retirement Pension #J-18808-Ljbffr
