Join us and be part of a team that's shaping the future of women's health.Neonatal ICUThe Neonatal ICU is a 83-bed Level III critical care facility that provides acute medical, nursing, and respiratory care to critically ill infants; the majority of NICU admissions come from within Magee, however, we do also regularly take transports from other regional hospitals. Patients in the NICU may be premature or full-term infants who suffer from a diversity of medical issues including (but not limited to) low birth weight, infectious diseases, congenital anomalies, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, as well as various complications during labor and delivery. Previous ICU and/or pediatric experience is preferred; NICU experience is strongly preferred.Patient Care TechnicianThe Patient Care Technician provides patient care including assisting with patient procedures and activities of daily living and assists with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies. They provide feedback to the RN regarding patient care and reports changes in patient status.The Patient Care Technician performs the UPMC nursing core nursing assistant responsibilities (blood glucose, weights, vital signs, I&O, specimen collections and Foley care) and at least four of the following BU identified tasks: phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, simple dressing, Foley catheter removal, point of care testing, bladder scan, straight catheter, or IV catheter removal. They also must routinely perform the UPMC nursing core nursing assistant responsibilities including ADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patients as well as point of care testing (inc. blood glucose), weights, vital signs, I&O, telemetry monitor application/reapplication, HAC & PSI prevention (TEDs/SCDs). In addition, they may also apply simple dressings, placement, and removal of restraints, 12 lead EKG, bladder scan, all specimen collections. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.Candidates without previous PCT experience in a hospital-based setting will be required to attend a 7 day mandatory training course. This course is held during weekdays and daylight hours.
