Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD Modeler for AI Training

Role Overview

Apply advanced parametric CAD expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through accurate, real-world mechanical design work. This remote contract role focuses on creating, improving, and reviewing CAD models, with project work centered on FreeCAD. Strong Autodesk Fusion 360 experience is directly transferable, and prior FreeCAD experience is preferred. No prior AI experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Create fully parametric 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies from detailed written briefs, using robust sketches, constraints, and feature trees.
• Edit existing parametric models as requirements evolve, maintaining manufacturability and specification compliance.
• Audit CAD models for dimensional accuracy, appropriate tolerances, and alignment with design intent, identifying gaps or deviations.
• Provide consistent, high-quality CAD data and document design decisions to support AI training.
• Use manufacturing knowledge, including injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and casting or forging, to optimize designs for production.
• Communicate design rationale, technical feedback, and insights clearly in writing and verbally.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on parametric CAD experience, ideally with FreeCAD. Strong proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Inventor is also accepted.
• Experience with parametric CAD modeling, mechanical assembly modeling, and CAD model auditing.
• Practical application of GD&T principles, including ASME Y14.5 or an equivalent standard.
• Demonstrated design-for-manufacturability expertise across at least two to three relevant manufacturing processes.
• At least 4 years of applied experience editing models and at least 10 years of experience for complex model-creation assignments.
• Ability to work on assembly-level models as well as individual parts.
• Reverse-engineering experience, including scan-to-CAD or point-cloud conversion, is highly valued.
• CAD automation or scripting knowledge, such as Python, iLogic, NX Open, or VBA, is a strong plus.
• Strong technical documentation, attention to detail, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.

Work Terms

• Remote, contract engagement.

Compensation

• $40 to $100 per hour.
