MidwifeThis position involves performing deliveries while on 24-hour shifts. The contract duration is 13 weeks, with the possibility of extension based on institutional needs.ResponsibilitiesTriage all patients and manage admissions.Conduct uncomplicated vaginal deliveries.Perform discharges for non-cesarean section patients.Consult with a physician on complicated cases, including operative deliveries.Round on patients as necessary.Provide emotional support and guidance to patients before, during, and after labor.Identify high-risk pregnancies and educate patients and their families about antenatal care and reproductive health.Work ScheduleTypically, the role requires 7 shifts per month, with each shift lasting 24 hours. Shifts may include some weekends; however, coverage may be provided by locums or full-time family practice providers, ensuring consistency in weekend requirements. There will always be time off post-call.Additional OpportunitiesMidwives may also have opportunities to see patients in a Women's Clinic, although this is not the primary focus of the role.
