Hospital Facilitator - Holyoke - Full Time

Position Summary / General Scope:

The Hospital Facilitator serves as an integral part of the CAS Operations Team and is responsible for ensuring that each patient receives the appropriate level of care (ALS, BLS, Chair Car) response, and on time arrival to the patient. Serves as a liaison between Field Operations, Communications and Revenue Cycle to ensure seamless coordination of transportation for all assigned divisions. Interacting with hospital and other facility staff to enhance and streamline the on-time performance of CAS services.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the coordination of Transportation including greeting and directing crews to the hospital floors.
• Primary point of contact for Hospital or Facility Case Management Department for routine requests as well as special patient needs/requests.
• Ensures that CAS provides superior customer service to Hospitals and Facilities all times.
• Interacts in a timely manner with CAS Communications to prioritize requests for Critical Care, ALS, BLS and Chair Car transports.
• Assists in coordination of discharges, interfacility transportation and the coordination thereof.
• Ensures patients are appropriately booked in CAD system for enhancing safe and efficient transportation.
• Assists in the facilitation, via liaison with clinical staff prior to arrival of the transporting unit to obtain required patient clinical and billing documentation.
• Initializing CAS run reports and obtaining demographic information as necessary for CAS field staff prior to patient arrival.
• Assists in the investigation process regarding service complaints and, in coordination with Ops. and Business Development, convey results appropriately.
• As an integral member of the Operations team with Supervisory authority, has the authority to issue discipline in cases of CAS policy violation or sub-standard service as well as commendations in cases of exemplary service.

• Maintains knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times.
• Must maintain a reliable attendance record
• Completes other duties as requested and assigned

Education:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Bachelor degree or higher preferred

Licensure, Certification, Registration:

• Current valid Massachusetts EMT-B, EMT-A or EMT-P certification
• Current CPR Certification (ACLS if applicable)
• Current valid driver’s license

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an EMT in Massachusetts
• Supervisory or lead experience preferred.
• Experience with CAD systems required
• Strong proficiency with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications preferred.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age

• Ability to meet the essential duties and physical, mental and sensory requirements of the position at all times.
• Comply with UDS drug screening at any and all times

• Satisfactory background check and MA CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), verification required annually.

• Verification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, verification required annually.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met and maintained by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The position requires significant physical strength, dexterity and the ability to function in very adverse environments. This job requires:

• Ability to lift and maneuver 125+ pounds with assistance and without difficulty
• Ability to ascend/descend stairs repeatedly and the ability to lift and carry 125+ pounds up and down stairs
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Ability to walk without difficulty and without affecting the immediate performance of job-related duties.
• Ability to bend, stoop and crawl as necessary
• Ability to occasionally work in low light and confined spaces
• Ability to work within a mobile environment.

This job requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry conditions. The employee is frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
