Job Title: Project Superintendent Job Description

The Project Superintendent leads the total construction effort for complex commercial projects, ensuring that each project is delivered in accordance with the design, budget, schedule, and safety requirements. You will oversee field operations from pre-construction through closeout, coordinating multiple subcontractors and trades, managing daily site activities, and maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards. This role requires a highly organized, hands-on leader who communicates clearly, solves problems proactively, and drives successful project outcomes while fostering a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the total construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design documents, budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
  • Lead and participate in pre-construction meetings to align scope, schedule, logistics, safety, and expectations with stakeholders and project teams.
  • Coordinate and manage temporary facilities and site logistics, including site access, laydown areas, utilities, and safety measures.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce project-specific safety plans and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Conduct and lead weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training to maintain a safe jobsite environment.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of various contractors and individual trades, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and project specifications.
  • Manage subcontractor contracts in the field, including scope clarification, change coordination, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
  • Oversee daily scheduling and sequencing of work activities to ensure efficient use of labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Plan and manage manpower on the jobsite, including forecasting needs, assigning crews, and adjusting resources to meet schedule milestones.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC programs by monitoring work in progress, verifying compliance with drawings and specifications, and addressing deficiencies promptly.
  • Conduct and coordinate city and authority inspections, ensuring work is ready for inspection and all required documentation is in place.
  • Maintain accurate time and unit recording for labor and production, and ensure timely reporting of jobsite metrics.
  • Communicate regularly with the Project Manager to report progress, discuss issues, coordinate changes, and align on schedule and budget impacts.
  • Manage jobsite documentation, including daily reports, RFIs, submittals, change documentation, and inspection records, using Procore and other project management systems.
  • Administer and manage punch lists, ensuring all items are documented, assigned, tracked, and completed in Procore prior to project closeout.
  • Review and verify completion of punch list items with stakeholders and ensure final quality meets project and client expectations.
  • Interpret and review blueprints, design documents, and construction contracts to guide field activities and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) trades and ensure their work is properly integrated with other trades and systems.
  • Apply construction scheduling techniques and tools to develop, maintain, and adjust project schedules, and communicate impacts to the team.
  • Monitor and support cost control in the field by identifying potential cost impacts, implementing efficient work methods, and minimizing rework.
  • Promote and model a team-oriented culture where everyone supports each other, wears multiple hats, and helps wherever needed.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by maintaining professional communication, addressing concerns promptly, and delivering work that meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Support and apply LEAN, BIM, and sustainability practices and systems as appropriate to project scope and requirements.
  • Use strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, project management systems, and scheduling software, to support planning, tracking, and reporting.
  • Work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people simultaneously to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency on the jobsite.
  • Provide strong leadership, management, and accountability to field teams, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of eight years of supervisory experience in similar facility construction, including commercial construction projects such as hotels, restaurants, convention centers, tenant improvements, and interior renovations.
  • Four-year engineering degree or an equivalent combination of technical training and/or relevant construction experience.
  • Proven experience as a Superintendent or similar role overseeing total construction efforts on commercial projects.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and the ability to develop, maintain, and adjust project schedules.
  • Strong cost control capabilities and the ability to support budget management from the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate large groups of contractors, trades, and field personnel.
  • Minimum OSHA 30 safety certification and strong knowledge of construction safety practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Procore or similar construction project management software for documentation, punch lists, and communication.
  • Proficiency in commercial construction methods, means, equipment, tools, and work procedures.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety requirements and the ability to implement and enforce safety plans on site.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, design documents, and construction contracts accurately.
  • Understanding of LEAN construction concepts, BIM processes, and sustainability practices and systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (such as Word, Excel, and Outlook), project management systems, and scheduling software.
  • Excellent organization skills with high attention to detail in planning, documentation, and execution.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Broad range of people skills, including strong leadership, team management, and accountability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people to achieve maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Capability to ensure client satisfaction while supporting company profitability and maintaining a safe work environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in commercial construction projects such as hotels, restaurants, convention centers, and tenant improvement projects.
  • Background in interior renovation projects, including coordination of finishes and interior trades.
  • Experience managing and coordinating mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) trades in the field.
  • Familiarity with construction in complex environments such as theme parks or large resort properties.
  • Experience with subcontractor management, including performance oversight and issue resolution.
  • Ability to interpret and apply LEAN, BIM, and sustainability principles to field operations where applicable.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think ahead while also resolving day-to-day field issues efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a team-oriented environment where individuals support each other and take on multiple responsibilities.
  • Experience working with general contractors and coordinating multiple trades on large commercial projects.

Work Environment

This role is primarily field-based, working on active construction projects within a large resort environment, including locations such as hotels, restaurants, convention centers, and tenant improvement spaces. You will spend most of your time on job sites, coordinating work in dynamic, operational settings where guest and client activities may be ongoing. The environment involves regular interaction with multiple trades and subcontractors, frequent site walks, inspections, and hands-on oversight of construction activities. You will use technologies such as Procore, Microsoft Office, project management systems, and scheduling software to manage documentation, communication, and planning. The work may require flexibility in hours to accommodate project schedules, inspections, and critical activities, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed to meet milestones. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
