Certified CVOR Surgical Technologist

Join our team in Sacramento, CA as a Certified CVOR Surgical Technologist where you will function as a member of a cardiac team, assisting physicians and nurses in the operating room during cardiac surgical procedures. You will ensure patient safety by preparing the operating room, sterilizing and maintaining equipment, and providing technical support to the surgical team. Confidence in cardiovascular operating room procedures and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential via NBSTSA required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience in a cardiac surgical environment required.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret EKG strips.
• Experience working with Cerner charting system preferred.
• Ability to work in a high-volume OR performing cardiac cases such as CABG and valve procedures.
• Two supervisor references required at time of submission: one within 12 months and one within 3 years (preferred).
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year. Candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NIHSS certification preferred.
• Prior experience with ventilated patients and telemetry monitoring.
• Previous CVOR travel experience is acceptable. First-time travelers will be considered.

Assignment Details

• Shift pattern includes varied 10-hour and 8-hour day shifts with scheduled overnight call approximately once per week.
• Staff are required to cover approximately three weekend days per month (about 1.5 weekends).
• Call responsibilities include overnight coverage and rotation with core staff for holidays.
• Orientation includes 1–2 days of floor-specific OR orientation with a preceptor and an estimated 12 orientation hours.
• Must be able to float to other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float is rare but possible.
• Charting system: Cerner.
• Unit is a high-volume CVOR with four suites, performing 8–10 surgeries per day.
