About the job

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Ecommerce Platform Manager to own and evolve our Shopify Plus ecosystem across six North American storefronts representing four premium consumer brands.

This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes Shopify Plus and is passionate about building exceptional ecommerce experiences. You’ll combine deep platform expertise with strong business acumen to continuously improve the customer experience, identify new platform capabilities, and help scale high-growth ecommerce brands.

Reporting to the VP of Ecommerce, you’ll own the ecommerce platform roadmap, manage our external Shopify development partner, and lead the implementation of new features, integrations, and optimizations that drive measurable business results.

Responsibilities:

Own the Shopify Platform

• Serve as the primary owner of our Shopify Plus ecosystem across six storefronts (US & Canada), ensuring the platform supports business objectives while delivering a best-in-class customer experience.
• Develop and maintain a strategic platform roadmap, balancing new functionality, technical improvements, and ongoing optimization to support business growth.
• Continuously evaluate Shopify’s evolving capabilities, emerging technologies, and industry best practices, recommending enhancements that improve the customer journey and operational efficiency.
• Act as the internal Shopify expert, providing guidance on platform capabilities, technical feasibility, and scalable solutions for business stakeholders.

Manage Platform Development

• Own the day-to-day relationship with our Shopify development agency, ensuring projects are well-defined, properly prioritized, and delivered with a high level of quality.
• Manage the development lifecycle from requirements through deployment, including backlog prioritization, sprint planning, user stories, QA, release management, and post-launch validation.
• Coordinate feature development, bug resolution, and platform enhancements while balancing competing business priorities and technical dependencies.
• Establish clear project documentation, communicate priorities and timelines, and ensure stakeholders remain informed throughout the development process.

Drive Platform Enhancements & Ecommerce Technology

• Evaluate, recommend, and implement new platform capabilities, applications, and integrations that improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and overall business performance.
• Manage the ongoing health of the ecommerce technology ecosystem, ensuring third-party applications and integrations remain reliable, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs.
• Monitor site performance and health, proactively identifying opportunities to improve page speed, site reliability, Core Web Vitals, uptime, and the overall customer experience.
• Ensure the platform evolves alongside changing privacy, consent, accessibility, and compliance requirements while maintaining accurate analytics, marketing measurement, and customer trust.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate manual processes, and improve the efficiency of day-to-day ecommerce operations.

Lead Conversion Optimization

• Partner with Ecommerce leadership to prioritize initiatives that improve conversion rate, average order value, customer engagement, and the overall digital shopping experience.
• Develop and manage an ongoing testing roadmap, identifying opportunities for experimentation through A/B testing, UX enhancements, and feature optimization.
• Analyze customer behavior, site analytics, and testing results to uncover friction points and translate insights into actionable platform improvements.
• Measure the business impact of new features and optimizations, using data to continuously refine the ecommerce experience and inform future roadmap decisions.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of experience managing Shopify Plus or another enterprise ecommerce platform for a consumer-facing brand.
• Deep expertise in Shopify Plus, including themes, apps, integrations, checkout, merchandising capabilities, and platform functionality.
• Demonstrated success managing ecommerce platform roadmaps, feature development, and digital initiatives.
• Experience managing external development agencies or technical implementation partners.
• Strong understanding of Agile project management, including backlog prioritization, sprint planning, user stories, and release management.
• Experience evaluating and implementing ecommerce technologies that support growth and operational efficiency.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to prioritize opportunities and measure results.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for ecommerce, digital innovation, and using technology to create exceptional online shopping experiences.

Salary: $115-125k
