Design Manager

Role Description The Design Manager – Systems & Communications is a full-time, on-site role based in Redmond, WA. This position leads the design and integration of systems and communication solutions, ensuring that technical architectures meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements. The role includes overseeing systems design activities, managing requirements throughout the project lifecycle, and coordinating with engineering, project management, and client teams to maintain alignment on scope and deliverables. The Design Manager reviews technical documentation, guides systems engineers, and supports design reviews, risk assessments, and issue resolution. Day-to-day tasks also include progress reporting, schedule coordination, and contributing to continuous improvement of design standards and processes. Qualifications Strong Systems Design and Systems Engineering skills, with experience defining architectures, interfaces, and integration strategies. Experience in Requirements Management, including eliciting, documenting, tracing, and validating functional and technical requirements. Background in Project Management, with the ability to plan, track, and coordinate multi-disciplinary design activities. Exposure to Rail Transport or other complex, safety-critical infrastructure domains, or a demonstrated ability to learn industry-specific standards quickly. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, systems engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus. Proficiency in using systems engineering and requirements tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama, or similar) and standard project management tools. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams and present design decisions clearly. Proven ability to work on-site in a collaborative environment, manage competing priorities, and maintain attention to detail in documentation and reviews. #J-18808-Ljbffr
