SUMMARY: This position is assigned to the Gowen Field Fire Department (124 CES-CEF, 124 MSG, 124 FW), Idaho Air National Guard (IDANG), functioning within the State of Idaho – Military Division. The primary purpose of this position is to prevent the loss of life and property from fire. Performs as a crew member engaged in airfield, structural firefighting, crash-rescue, and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) response. Incumbent drives and operates firefighting vehicles and responds to the presence or the potential release of hazardous materials for the purpose of stopping or controlling the situation.

MILITARY DIVISION MANDATORY QUESTIONS:

(1) Except for minor traffic offenses, have you ever entered a plea of guilty, no contest, or had a withheld judgment to a felony offense? If YES, please explain on a separate paper and attach it to your application.

(2) Do you certify that I am a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or a Foreign National with authorization to work in the United States?

Mandatory Requirements to qualify at the NGA-6F grade level:

(1) Must be an enlisted member of the Idaho Air National Guard and be qualified as AFSC 3E731/3E751. Provide your military grade, job title, AFSC and unit of assignment.

(2) Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted state issued driver’s license (from any state), and be eligible to obtain a military driver’s license. Provide your driver’s license number, issuing state, license expiration date, and the full name specified on the license. (Do not provide a copy of your driver’s license.)

(3) Must have, or be eligible to obtain, and maintain a favorable T3 (SECRET) Federal Background Investigation. If a selected candidate does not have a current favorable T3, as a condition of employment he/she must submit to the investigation process immediately upon hire/appointment. (At a minimum, a favorable suitability determination by the State Security Manager is required prior to appointment into this position.)

(4) Must possess the following certification levels by an IFSAC or Pro Board Accredited Program (certifications will have affixed IFSAC or Pro Board numbered seal): Driver Operator Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), Driver Operator Mobile Water Supply (MWS), Driver Operator Pum per, Telecommunicator a nd NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800. (Attach supporting documentation to your application.)

(5) Must obtain certification as a State of Idaho Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) within 1-year of hire.

(6) Must have a minimum of 12-months experience as a firefighter.

Mandatory Requirements to qualify at the NGA-5F Trainee grade level:

(1) Must be an enlisted member of the Idaho Air National Guard and be qualified as AFSC 3E731/3E751, or be currently attending the DoD Firefighter school at Goodfellow, AFB. Provide your military grade, job title, AFSC and unit of assignment.

(2) Must have and maintain a valid and unrestricted state issued driver’s license (from any state), and be eligible to obtain a military driver’s license. Provide your driver’s license number, issuing state, license expiration date, and the full name specified on the license. (Do not provide a copy of your driver’s license.)

(3) Must have, or be eligible to obtain, and maintain a favorable T3 (SECRET) Federal Background Investigation. If a selected candidate does not have a current favorable T3, as a condition of employment he/she must submit to the investigation process immediately upon hire/appointment. (At a minimum, a favorable suitability determination by the State Security Manager is required prior to appointment into this position.)

(4) Must possess the following certification levels by an IFSAC or Pro Board Accredited Program (certifications will have affixed IFSAC or Pro Board numbered seal): Firefighter I/II, Airport Firefighter, and HAZMAT Operations. (Attach supporting documentation to your application.)

(5) Must agree to successfully complete assigned training to obtain remaining IFSAC or Pro Board Accredited Program certifications required for promotion to NGA-6F within 12-months of hire.

(6) Must obtain certification as a State of Idaho Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) within 1-year of hire.

(7) Must have a minimum of 3-months of experience as a firefighter.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12-months (to qualify as NGA-6F) or 3-months (to qualify as NGA-5F) of experience performing work related to the knowledge requirements below. Submit a paragraph for each knowledge requirement that demonstrates the required experience and describes competence in applying the knowledge. Education and training may be used to offset experience.

(1) Describe your knowledge of proper safety practices relating to the fire protection field.

(2) Describe your k nowledge of operations and maintenance of all installation fire protection equipment.

(3) Describe your knowledge of inspection methods and corrective action procedures.

(4) Describe your ability to operate all fire protection equipment and follow specific instructions given by the Fire Crew Chief.

(5) Describe your ability to act as an Alarm Room Operator and perform general clerical tasks in support of fire station operations.

(6) Describe your skill and ability to operate a self-contained breathing apparatus for 15-minutes or longer.

(7) Describe your skill and ability to perform heavy lifting during training and emergency situations.

(8) Describe your skill and ability to maintain EMT and CPR certification with the State of Idaho.
