Respiratory Care Student

Provides limited respiratory treatment, diagnostics and therapy under the direct supervision of a credentialed respiratory care practitioner. Student practitioners are under medical and technical supervision. Key responsibilities include setting up and calibrating equipment, observing and recording patient signs and status during treatment, assisting with respiratory treatment under supervision of Respiratory Therapist, and properly cleaning and sterilizing equipment.

Minimum qualifications include good written and oral communication skills, a recommendation from academic program chair, a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and currently being enrolled with good standing in a CoARC credentialed program. Must have completed course studies in anatomy and physiology, medical gas administration, respiratory pharmacology, and medical aerosol administration. Must be eligible to apply for student permit through the Indiana Health Professions Bureau. Customer service oriented personality. Skilled to care for all age groups.
