Purpose of a loan officer Effectively establish relationships with members, identify their needs and wants, then offer appropriate solutions in a way that exhibits value along with the risks and benefits. Duties of a loan officer Process loan and/or visa applications by evaluating applicant information and documentation either in person or electronically. Consultwith members about their lending needs to help them achieve their goal while analyzing their credit worthiness. Evaluateloan applications and documentation and requests any other documentation that may be needed in making a solid loan decision. Preparenotes regarding the loan application and submittimely and accurate loan applications to the underwriter(s) for review. Collect closing information that is needed for the closer to be able to close the loan in a timely manner. Helpcustomers by answering questions and responding to requests. Maintainmember confidence by keeping loan information confidential. Promote loan products and meet monthly loan goals. Maintain knowledge of lending regulations, the economy and rates. Loan Officer Qualifications & Skills Negotiation skills. Willingness to ask difficult questions. Working under pressure. Multitasking many applications at one time. Strong computer skills. Willingness to learn new programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work both in a team and independently. Certifications Credit Life and Credit Disability Insurance as well as Financial Counseling. These are not required to have before hiring and will be provided to you through the Credit Union.
