Maintenance Tech

Maintenance TechnicianWe are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support production operations by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring production uptime while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with USDA/FDA regulations.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on production equipmentDiagnose equipment failures and respond quickly to minimize downtimeRepair or fabricate parts using welders, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other shop equipmentInstall, assemble, and repair machinery, pipe systems, and electrical componentsTroubleshoot electrical systems using schematics, diagrams, and manualsTest repairs and installations to ensure proper functionalityMaintain and repair electrically driven systems, motors, and equipmentWork with PLC motor controls, VFDs, and ammonia refrigeration systemsAccurately record maintenance work and parts used in a CMMS systemFollow all food safety, SQF, and OSHA regulations at all timesSupport continuous improvement and preventative maintenance initiativesAssist with additional duties as assignedQualificationsPrevious maintenance experience in manufacturing, food production, or industrial environmentsStrong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skillsExperience with PLCs, VFDs, and industrial electrical systems preferredFamiliarity with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plusAbility to read and interpret schematics and technical manualsStrong sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentReliable attendance and ability to work independently or on a teamEducation & RequirementsHigh school diploma or GED preferredBasic math, reading, and writing skillsAbility to work overtime as needed, with or without noticeWork EnvironmentRefrigerated environment (34°F – 45°F)Wet, fast-paced food production settingWork may be performed indoors and outdoorsPhysical RequirementsContinuous standing and walking throughout the shiftFrequent lifting of up to 50 lbs; up to 75 lbs with assistanceFrequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reachingAbility to work in a cold, noisy environment and multitask effectivelySurge is an equal opportunity employer.
