Youth Coach
$50 per hourCrossover
- On-site in Houston, TX — campuses located in Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands (relocation assistance available)
- $100,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage begins day one
- Facilitating one-hour life competency workshops for Pre-K–8 students covering public speaking, concentration, teamwork, and constructive feedback skills (hands-on and project-oriented)
- Conducting daily individual and small-group motivational sessions where you analyze each student's performance in adaptive learning platforms (utilizing Coachbot analytics), establish objectives, and drive them toward 100% weekly goal completion
- Overseeing and assessing Test2Pass evaluations to verify students have genuinely mastered each life competency, not merely attended sessions
- Adjusting your coaching approach across a broad developmental spectrum, from Pre-K learners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct communication and accountability
- Cultivating authentic relationships with each student so they develop sufficient trust to receive coaching through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty
- Delivering lectures or conventional academic instruction (students acquire core subjects through adaptive applications, not through your teaching)
- Developing lesson plans or original curriculum (Alpha supplies life skills playbooks; your responsibility is to execute them with energy and narrative skill)
- Handling parent communications or administrative operations (Campus Leads manage those functions; your attention remains on students)
- Evaluating homework assignments or preparing students for standardized testing (these elements do not exist in this model)
- Operating independently (you function within a campus team alongside Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability)
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- 3+ years of direct experience working with Pre-K–8 students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program leadership capacities)
- Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the objective, your specific actions, and the result)
- Daily usage of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
- Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands campus (relocation assistance provided)
- Authorization to work legally in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship
- Background in youth sports coaching, camp leadership, or after-school programming where you held direct responsibility for driving kids toward specific objectives
- History of significant personal accomplishment (academic distinctions, competitive athletics, or leadership positions requiring sustained excellence)
- Innate storytelling capability: you can maintain the attention of a room filled with 12-year-olds for an hour without escalating your voice
- Proven ability to motivate disengaged or resistant students and transform them into engaged participants
The most caring thing you can do for a student who achieved 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that expectation feels uncomfortable, this position is not the right fit. If it energizes you because you understand that maintaining high standards is how you demonstrate belief in a student's potential, read on.
Alpha operates differently than conventional schools. Students complete a full academic day in approximately two hours using adaptive software. No traditional lectures. No physical textbooks. Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: guiding Pre-K through 8th grade students in essential life competencies such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. Half of your time is dedicated to facilitating hands-on workshops using prescribed playbooks and narrative techniques. The remaining half involves meeting with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their performance in adaptive learning platforms via Coachbot analytics, and driving them toward achieving 100% of their weekly objectives. Students demonstrate competency through Test2Pass evaluations, not through participation-based grading.
During your first year, you will manage a student cohort and become proficient in Alpha's methodology: life competency workshops, motivational coaching sessions, mastery-based evaluation systems. As you demonstrate the ability to hold every student accountable to 100% goal completion while maintaining satisfaction ratings above 90%, advancement opportunities emerge to Lead Guide, where you mentor other Guides while continuing direct student engagement. The highest performers in this position don't merely impact individual students; they influence campus-wide operational culture.
If you have years of experience coaching, counseling, or mentoring young people and have longed to eliminate traditional instructional teaching to concentrate on genuine developmental impact, this is your opportunity.
