The Miami Valley School (MVS) in Dayton, Ohio, is seeking an innovative and culturally inclusive mathematics teacher committed to developing inquisitive, critical thinkers, focused on understanding the 'why' behind mathematical principles versus the 'how' of following a formula. As a mathematics teacher at MVS, you will primarily teach students in grades 6-8, but could be asked to teach an upper school course.

Here, you will teach four sections of mathematics ranging from middle school pre algebra to upper school geometry, typically all four sections would be with middle school students. Expectations include establishing a supportive and engaging environment for students, demonstrating a deep belief that teachers have a unique role in empowering students to become passionately inquisitive, and demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning through engagement in ongoing professional development.

Primary responsibilities include teaching four sections of mathematics, leading/co-leading an Immersion program in January, developing and proposing new courses each year, serving as an advisor for a group of 10-12 students, and leading and/or advising extracurricular activities.

Qualifications include a desire to work with pre-teen and teenage students in an experiential setting, excellent communication skills, and an undergraduate or advanced degree(s) in Mathematics or related field. Candidates without prior teaching experience will also be considered.
