Location: Various Departments

Hours Per Week: Minimum 48 hours per Quarter with a Summer and Winter Holiday

Schedule: Day/Evening/Night/ Holiday per unit requirement

Summary: As a Patient Care Tech - Nursing Student, you will provide direct or indirect patient care in accordance with treatment plans as determined/delegated by a licensed nurse. Your ability to assist with tasks necessary for the general management and organization of the patient care unit is crucial in the overall success of the unit and comfort of Rochester Regional patients.

We have immediate opportunities for Nursing Students seeking to work on a Per Diem basis as a Patient Care Technician. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience at the bedside! Students must be available to complete work shifts during the school year.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care & Service. Provide direct patient care & indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning; provide safe and competent care for patients with relationship to nutritional, skin integrity, elimination & hygiene needs; take patient vital signs; ensure equipment and all facilities are clean and stocked with appropriate supplies

Admission & Transfer of Patients. Assist with admission, discharge and transfer of patients

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nursing Program

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 2050 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
