Job Title: RN Telemetry I Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years working in one location and 2 years working as a Traveler License: Active RN License Certifications: AHA BLS certification, Telemetry Certification Must-Have: Must be able to read telemetry strips Description: This is a nursing position on a medical telemetry unit. The unit is a 37-bed facility caring for a variety of patients. Patients may be admitted from various sources including the emergency department or directly by a physician. Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia. The unit also accommodates patients with alcohol use disorders and dementia, alongside cardiac comorbidities. Occasional surgical patients are also managed on this unit. Nursing care for patients post-cardiac catheterization and pacemaker placement is preferred but not mandatory. Travellers will be required to float to applicable units as needed. Rotation between shifts may occur but is typically infrequent. The RN to patient ratio on days and evenings is 1:4 with a maximum of 5 patients. On nights, the ratio is 1:5-6. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC. Certification in ACLS is optional.
