Raven StealthCo- Director/Senior Director, Biology

We are a stealth‑mode biotechnology company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, developing next‑generation oligonucleotide‑based therapeutics. The Position The Senior Director/Director of Biology reports to the Head of Research/CSO and is responsible for building a research team, developing assays, identifying targets, and partnering with CROs and delivery teams to translate biology into therapeutic programs. Responsibilities Build and manage a research team of 3, leveraging consultants and CROs to accelerate discovery. Develop a deep understanding of the disease biology by engaging with KOLs and expanding insights into target mechanisms using physiological and omics tools. Synthesize large datasets and mechanistic insights to identify and prioritize novel actionable targets. Design and own in‑vitro and in‑vivo assays needed for lead indication biology, including target manipulation endpoints across relevant cell types. Lead and manage CRO partnerships for in‑vivo pharmacology, including design and evaluation of readouts across disease models. Collaborate with the VP of Delivery to analyze biodistribution and pharmacodynamic metrics of the delivery platform (e.g., IHC, spatial transcriptomics, mass spectrometry). Contribute to company‑level target and program selection decisions, ensuring biology findings inform platform development. Communicate strategy and progress to internal and external stakeholders, supporting fundraising and strategic partnerships. Track developments in indication biology and competitive landscape. The Individual Hands‑on builder comfortable at the bench, managing a small team, and interpreting complex datasets to drive program decisions. Track record of delivering preclinical therapeutic programs, deep mastery in at least one relevant biology area, significant in‑vivo pharmacology experience. Strong leadership, mentorship, and ability to represent the company to board, investors, and the biotech community. Intellectually curious, collaborative, humble, driven, and adaptable to an early‑stage environment with shifting priorities. Experience in the specific indication is a plus but not required. Qualifications Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., chemistry, protein engineering, biology). Proven experience in target identification, assay development, and in‑vivo pharmacology. Leadership skills, ability to mentor staff, and to partner with CROs and cross‑functional teams. Strong organizational instincts, sound judgment, and ability to balance experimental work with strategic thinking. Compensation Base salary range: $210,000 – $280,000 USD.
