Position Title: Laboratory and Operations Manager Position Type: Contract-to-hire Pay rate: $40-45/hour Workplace: Onsite in Thousand Oaks, CA Why this role is unique This isn’t just a desk job. As our Office & Lab Manager, you’ll be the operational anchor of the company, empowering scientists and leaders to focus on breakthrough science. Early-stage biotech means agility, resourcefulness, and getting your hands dirty—whether you’re setting up a new workflow, troubleshooting a vendor issue, or helping prep the lab for audits. You’ll be trusted as a key problem-solver, collaborator, and culture-builder. Responsibilities Operational Leadership: Run day-to-day office and lab operations—from front desk management to onboarding, facilities coordination, and supporting site leadership. Vendor & Facilities Management: Build partnerships and manage contracts with critical vendors (janitorial, supplies, maintenance, property management), ensuring smooth and responsive operations. Lab Compliance & Organization: Maintain an audit-ready laboratory; implement and reinforce safety and regulatory standards, acting as the go-to resource for lab compliance. Team & Culture Support: Facilitate collaboration among scientists, manage staff logistics (including remote visitors), and help shape our agile, inclusive workplace culture. EH&S Stewardship: Oversee environmental health & safety (EH&S) initiatives, inspections, documentation, and act quickly on corrective actions. Resource Management: Coordinate laboratory inventory, supply deliveries, equipment tracking, and help optimize scientific workflows. Change Champion: Work closely with leadership to drive and support change initiatives, helping us scale smart and stay ahead of regulatory shifts. You Are A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and loves multitasking in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Experienced (5+ years) in office, lab, or facilities operations in a regulated setting (ideally biotech/pharma). Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable with lab compliance, safety procedures (Cal/OSHA familiarity a plus), and audit prep. Skilled at vendor management, event planning, and providing seamless support to diverse teams. A people person: approachable, effective at supporting staff and visitors, no matter their role or background.
