Ballot Inspector

Inspects ballot materials for completeness, condition, accuracy, and readiness for processing. The role supports election logistics, quality control, and secure movement of ballot materials within County procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect ballots, ballot envelopes, batches, or related materials for visible issues, damage, mismatches, or processing exceptions according to training.

Prepare and route ballot materials to the correct next step, including sorting, staging, labeling, or transport within secure areas. Document batch counts, exceptions, issues found, and actions taken using County forms or systems.

• Maintain chain-of-custody practices and ensure ballots are never left unsecured or outside authorized workflows.

Escalate discrepancies, unusual marks, missing materials, damaged items, or unclear instructions promptly to a supervisor. Assist with election logistics duties such as moving ballot crates, organizing materials, and supporting processing teams as assigned.

• Maintain confidentiality, voter privacy, and nonpartisan conduct while working near ballot materials.

Required Skills and Competencies

• High attention to detail, visual accuracy, and ability to recognize irregularities or process exceptions.

Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs when handling ballot crates or supplies.

• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
• Team-oriented attitude and ability to work steadily in high-volume ballot-processing operations.
• Nonpartisan conduct and commitment to election security and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications and Compliance Requirements

• Valid Nevada Driver's License.

Background check and drug screening required before assignment.

• Registered Clark County voter; prior election logistics or ballot-processing experience.
• Must complete required County training before handling ballot materials independently.

Schedule and Working Conditions

• May require standing, walking, lifting, repetitive handling, and work in secure processing rooms.
• Work may be fast-paced during peak mail ballot and Election Day processing periods.
• Must be available to work through the election cycle with limited requested days off.
• Must be available for schedule needs that may include 8-10 hour shifts, weekends, flexible start and end times, overtime, and extended hours on specific event days, especially Election Day.
• Must remain reliable, punctual, and responsive to assignment changes during a fast-paced, deadline-driven election environment.
• Must follow County security rules, workplace policies, chain-of-custody expectations, confidentiality requirements, dress code, and professional conduct standards.

Performance Expectations

• Completes assigned work accurately, on time, and in accordance with training and County procedures.

Maintains nonpartisan conduct, voter confidentiality, ballot security, and respectful service at all times.

• Escalates exceptions, voter issues, equipment concerns, safety concerns, and unclear instructions promptly to the designated supervisor or lead.
• Accurately documents work performed, materials handled, calls received, records updated, and/or batch activity as applicable to the assignment.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $17.00 Per Hour
