Job Summary The HCA Healthcare Residency Program at Johnston-Willis Hospital provides a year-long paid program designed to give RN students hands‑on experience and help them transition from student nurse to registered nurse. The program includes advanced clinical training in a specialty area, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training with a facility preceptor, simulation‑based skill evaluation, mentoring from nurse leaders, and a collaborative evidence‑based practice project. The position offers flexible start dates and may be day or night shift. Responsibilities Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes in patient status. Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient response, and intervene or notify provider as appropriate. Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipate needs, and resolve them proactively. Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow‑up measures, translating complex terminology into understandable language. Qualifications Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment. Other certifications may be required during employment. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program. Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the state.
