Assistant Professor of Economics

Position: Assistant Professor of Economics Department: Lundy-Fetterman School of Business Status: Full Time Position Summary: The role occupant will teach introductory, upper-level, and graduate-level courses in economics and related fields. He/she will determine course content, learning objectives, pedagogical approaches, and academic assessment for each course. The incumbent will engage students in creative ways beyond the classroom, provide academic and career advice to students, serve on committees/other roles at the department, Business School, and university levels, and conduct scholarly activities (research, publication, presentations), He/she will serve as a collegial member of a community of scholars and learners, supporting and promoting the Business School's mission of providing students with a comprehensive professional business education that instills in them a commitment to service, lifelong learning, ethical behavior, and the free enterprise system. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver student instruction, in person and online (25%).
- Contribute to the department, Business School, and university by serving on committees and in other roles as required (15%).
- Advise students on academic and career plans (15%).
- Engage students beyond the classroom in reading groups, study abroad, case competitions, etc. (10%).
- Assess and report student learning; complete student record keeping in a timely and accurate manner (10%).
- Contribute to the discipline by conducting scholarly activities that lead to academic publications, presentations, and/or pedagogical improvements (10%).
- Represent the Business School externally as requested by serving on panels, working with business/community organizations, etc. (10%).
- Participate in departmental, faculty, and staff meetings as requested (5%).
- Exercise independent judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, along with FERPA and other state and federal mandates.
- Other job-related duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Master's degree in economics or related field required; terminal degree in economics or related field preferred
- Prior teaching experience preferred
- Relevant industry experience desired
- Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector desired
- Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
- Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and standard methods of digital communication, including web/text/chat platforms.
- Proficiency/Advanced skills in Excel desired.
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence, statistical analysis, and other tools desired.
- Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with faculty colleagues, staff, students, and the public.
- Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
- Exercise independent judgment in complex, new, and/or stressful situations.
- Manage multiple, concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to work in a changing environment.
- Ability to work occasional evening or weekend hours and occasional travel, including overnight stays.
- This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.
