In this role, the Lead Lab Applications – Digital Pathology will lead business goals and determine workflow and technical requirements for the implementation of a new Digital Pathology Solution. The work requires a detailed understanding of the clinical, education, and research workflows at NYU Langone. The Lead will have overall responsibility for the direction, management, and performance of the Clinical and Anatomic Laboratory assigned applications, ensuring consistent processes, effective operations, maintenance, site parameters, and security levels. The Lead will be accountable for the results and functionality of assigned applications, including Digital Pathology. The Digital Pathology Lead System Analyst works with team members to map the lab workflow, review IT infrastructure and security requirements, understand network requirements, and determine integration details with NYU’s Laboratory Information System (EPIC Beaker LIS). The Lead will help transform the current analog pathology workflow to a full digital pathology solution. Job Responsibilities Administrator of the new Digital Pathology Philips System; the ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare imaging systems or clinical ancillary systems and have worked in healthcare IT. Manage within the constraints of scope, quality, and time to ensure delivery of specified service requirements. Responsible for troubleshooting, system upgrades, and regulatory compliance across both clinical and anatomic pathology systems and reference laboratory interfacing with ancillary systems. Oversee Digital Pathology solutions including scanner integrations, integration with laboratory information systems, VNA, PACS, and cloud‑based storage. Have comprehensive understanding of the anatomic pathology workflow and Digital Pathology workflow. Perform other duties as assigned. Ensure clinicians’ experience is optimized and look for ways to streamline processes and tools. Ensure department processes comply with regulatory requirements and standards. Check all interfacing to and from the hospital system, Meaningful Use with DOH interface, reference lab interface. Manage and monitor security of the assigned lab system to ensure proper functioning. Prepare, communicate, and maintain plans, ensuring all requirements and objectives are properly documented and budgets are managed. Document all specific maintenance performed for regulatory compliance. Assist with establishing policies, guidelines, metrics, and templates. Review LIS interfacing and monitor system status, system errors, system messages, faxing, printing, auto‑printing, scheduled reports, collection lists, labels, analytics, dashboards, updates, and modifications. Verify results, review appropriate patient data in notification and presentation, recognize system failures, and take effective corrective action to resolve. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in IT, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience in Laboratory Information Systems or an IT role. 1–2 years of supervisory or management experience. Ability to work independently, interact with, and maintain functional relationships with personnel at all levels within and outside the organization. Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, analytical, planning, multitasking, detail‑orientation, problem‑solving, and organizational skills. Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Ability to handle multiple projects or assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines and expectations. Ability to collect and aggregate data, gather information systematically, track and trend, establish facts and principles, and generate KPIs. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field. Knowledge of medical imaging applications, including Digital Pathology, radiology, and laboratory imaging solutions. Healthcare background and experience that promotes a high level of credibility with clinical professionals. The salary range for the role is $110,479.19 – $149,760.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
