About the Role

As a Health Information Management Specialist (HIMS), you are the guardian of patient information and play a vital role in keeping our health records accurate, compliant, and secure. You'll ensure our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system runs smoothly, collaborate with clinical teams, and help deliver an exceptional patient experience one chart at a time.

What You'll Do

• Process, review, and release medical records accurately and in compliance with HIPAA
• Manage record requests, subpoenas, and authorizations ensuring timely responses
• Scan and label patient information into the EHR (Epic) and route appropriately
• Import and organize e-faxes, medication authorizations, and hospital portal documents
• Collaborate with providers and care teams to maintain clean, complete patient files
• Uphold confidentiality and data integrity across all records and systems
• Support quality improvement efforts and contribute to Premier's community initiatives

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (Epic experience preferred)
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient privacy standards
• A team-first mindset and a commitment to patient-centered care

Work Environment

• Office-based with frequent computer use
• May lift 20-50 lbs occasionally (boxes/files)
• Exposure to confidential information and possible infectious materials
• Consistent accuracy required for scanning, indexing, and data management
