Job Summary:
The Materials Planner is responsible for expediting all ingredients and materials required to produce the plastic lines production schedule. Updates and maintains daily inventories and requirements and reports to production scheduling and/or operations any shortages/concerns. Provides status on progress of shortages/constraints. Coordinates with Director of Logistics to establish and prioritize the ordering, maintaining and execution of ingredients/materials.
Responsibilities
- Manages and maintains inventory through the use of MRP, Excel and AS400 Reports to ensure production needs are achieved.
- Keeps management informed and reports on the daily production needs and completions, and any shortages that may affect production releases and/or deliveries.
- Identifies and assists in the timely investigating of material shortages in conjunction with Purchasing and submits purchasing requisitions in support of the production schedule.
- Researches inventory problems related to product BOMs (Bill of Materials), or other material usage issues and ensures they get resolved. Notifies the department manager when issues cannot be resolved and for further research and resolution.
- Responsible for physical inventories and a cycle counting of materials and ingredients.
- Assist in the development of metrics, reports, and/or other tools for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality system standards and the unit's food safety and security programs in support of essential manufacturing strategies and practices.
- Serves as alternate to Production Scheduler, Juice Operations.
- Provide feedback to supervisors on changes made during the day.
- Ensure key raw materials are available to achieve plan including bottles, caps and handles, labels, and other packaging materials.
- Handle all material defects including identifying problems, developing summaries of defects, notifying vendors for corrections and credits, and communicating losses to accounting.
- Supports Safe Quality Foods (SQF) requirements.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Candidate core competencies including ability to communicate effectively with multiple departments and levels, proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word, and previous knowledge in SAP and/or Warehouse Management System is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred with 0-3 years related experience, including manufacturing planning, production and inventory control.
