Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Overview LaphCare is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team of medical professionals in Montgomery, AL, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Montgomery Women’s Facility. As a correctional nurse, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to residents. Working in a controlled environment, you will conduct physical assessments, administer medications, manage chronic illnesses, and respond to emergencies while ensuring a safe and secure setting. New grads are encouraged to apply – we will train you in correctional healthcare. Responsibilities Perform patient assessments and interview patients about current health problems and medication history. Take vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and weight. Provide wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas. Administer medication, including injections, and monitor reactions. Maintain medical records and enter information into the electronic health record, TechCare. Observe patient health and mental status. Provide emergency first aid. Educate patients and assist with discharge/release planning. Qualifications Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program. High school diploma or equivalent (GED). State‑certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Active BLS CPR certification (American Heart Association preferred). Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary/confidential information. Display integrity and professionalism, adhering to the code of conduct and all facility policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening. Physical capabilities: Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 lbs, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR while maintaining balance and endurance.
