Entry-Level Billing Specialist / Billing Coordinator
Jersey Medical Care is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Billing Specialist / Billing Coordinator to join our Revenue Cycle Management team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in medical billing and healthcare administration. The role provides hands-on training and exposure to the full revenue cycle, including insurance verification, claims processing, claims scrubbing, and billing follow-up.
The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, comfortable working with systems and data, and interested in growing within healthcare operations.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Billing & Accounts
- Collect copayments and outstanding patient balances
- Review daily schedules to identify outstanding balances prior to appointments
- Assist with patient billing inquiries and account resolution
Insurance Verification
- Enter and update patient insurance information accurately
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and in-network status
- Confirm active coverage prior to scheduled visits
Claims Management & Scrubbing (Training Provided)
- Review and scrub claims for accuracy prior to submission
- Identify missing or incorrect information (coding, demographics, documentation, etc.)
- Work with clinical and administrative teams to resolve claim issues
- Submit clean claims through billing systems
Claims Follow-Up (Training Provided)
- Follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims
- Use insurance payer portals to check claim status and updates
- Contact insurance companies to resolve billing questions
- Document all follow-up activity in billing systems
Payment Posting Support
- Organize incoming billing mail and documentation
- Assist with electronic remittance (ERA) processing
- Support payment posting workflows and credit card payments
Workflow Support
- Track assigned billing tasks and ensure timely completion
- Work collaboratively with internal staff and external billing partners
- Support general billing operations and reporting needs

Requirements
Qualifications
- Entry-level position prior medical billing experience is a plus but not required
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Interest in healthcare administration or revenue cycle management preferred
- Behavioral health experience is a plus, but not required
