Job Title: Extrusion Quality Technician (Night Shift) Schedule: 5:45 PM – 6:00 AM Rotating 2-2-3 Schedule Location: Grand Rapids, MI Job Description The Quality Technician is responsible for completing projects/tasks assigned to them by the Quality Manager; the Quality Technician will also assist in guiding/reporting Production personnel with daily/weekly/monthly workflow and other tasks with direction by the Quality Manager – these tasks are critical in the Quality Control Plan. Responsibilities Participate in, assist in, OR help Develop methods for testing and evaluation of processes. Perform all required testing and report deviations as needed to appropriate parties for corrective actions and continuous improvement. Compare results of inspections and tests to the company’s quality standards, report results to Quality Manager for final analysis and action steps. Help report AND maintain Daily/Weekly/Monthly tasks within the Quality Department and Extrusion department – these tasks are critical to the Quality Control Plan. Evaluates data and places it into documents/spreadsheets in a logical fashion. Tests inspect and approve raw materials based on established quality specifications. Perform auditing on incoming/receiving material, process/production, and outgoing parts. Perform assigned, routine visual inspections, and other specified tests on raw materials, goods in process, and finished products. Use statistical methods to test product samples to evaluate the quality of full production batch before delivery to clients or customers. Report daily Quality data/metrics/KPI’s as needed. Aid in disposition of non-conforming material alongside Extrusion manager/Quality manager. Consults with Quality Manager to determine appropriate recommendations and remedies for questionable products. Tests limits on machines and products to determine failure points. Investigates, communicates, and aids in resolve of customer complaints. Maintains accurate records in the quality database. Maintains gage calibrations, and associated records. Performs testing on product samples, and reports data out in a logical fashion. Performs work related audits accordingly. Coaches and helps train team members on Quality related issues as they arise. Performs other job-related duties as assigned subject to reasonable accommodations. Competency (Knowledge, skills, and abilities) Strong organizational skills: ability to delegate, plan, and schedule accordingly. Ability to read a ruler, scale, and micrometer. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to understand detailed written and/or oral instructions including basic mathematical skills. Bachelors preferred in Science Related Field. Experience with quality in a manufacturing environment preferred. Position Type Full time. Physical Requirements This position will require a blend of sitting, walking, standing. May require the ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift up to 30lbs, and endure elevated temperature levels.
