Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting a young student in a dedicated school setting near Elizabeth, NJ. This role is ideal for a compassionate RN ready to make a significant difference during the summer session. Working one-on-one with a 3-year-old student diagnosed with Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy (INAD), you’ll provide essential nursing care both on-site and during transportation, directly impacting the student’s daily experience.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Current RN license in the state of New Jersey
• Proven background in pediatric nursing, preferably in a school environment
• Experience managing care for medically fragile children, especially those with NG-tubes (no G-tube involvement)
• Confident in non-ambulatory student support, including safe lifting and transport (student weighs approximately 24 lbs)
• Ability to provide attentive care on school buses as needed
• Strong organizational skills and readiness for a dynamic education setting

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct nursing care to the student throughout the school day (8 AM – 3 PM, Monday to Friday)
• Monitor and manage the NG-tube, ensuring proper function and comfort
• Provide safe lifting, transferring, and general mobility support as needed
• Accompany the student on daily bus rides to and from school, ensuring safety and medical oversight
• Collaborate with staff and communicate regularly with families to optimize care
• Maintain thorough documentation of all care provided in accordance with school policies
