It’s more than a career, it’s a calling MO-SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital Job Summary The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient’s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines using a patient/customer driven approach. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment, documenting findings accurately. Establish, coordinate, and evaluate a plan of care based on assessment data, diagnoses, lab results, and physician orders. Provide and document nursing interventions, collaborating with the health team and communicating patient care plans. Administer medications, manage IV fluids and parenteral nutrition, and complete referrals or consultations as required. Document changes in patient conditions, evaluate effectiveness of care, and report significant clinical changes immediately. Deliver specialized care to high‑risk patients, including restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment. Demonstrate professional accountability by adhering to quality standards, participating in learning activities, and maintaining certifications. Participate in committees, shared governance, and unit-based practice councils; contribute to performance improvement initiatives. Implement safety and infection‑control policies, maintain a safe work environment, and report risks using eSRM. Provide service excellence by offering consistent, courteous, and respectful care, maintaining confidentiality, and responding promptly to patient needs. Incorporate performance‑improvement and evidence‑based practices into daily nursing practice. Provide age‑appropriate care, adapting communication and interventions to the patient’s developmental stage. Use resources efficiently, recommend cost‑effective practices, and document chargeable supplies and equipment. Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications and Requirements Licensed to work as an RN in the state of Missouri. Current BLS HealthCare Provider certification (AHA). Maintain all required certifications (BLS, HI, TB screening, influenza vaccination, ethics training, safety training, information security, abuse & neglect, and other unit‑specific competencies).
