Location: Headquarters are in Tama, Iowa (Hybrid / Semi-Remote options available for established target markets, Field Work)
Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: Competitive base salary (TBD) + commission, with an expected On-Target Earnings (OTE) of $200,000+ based on hitting a $4M sales volume milestone. Commission is uncapped.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically minded Sales Engineer to bridge the gap between our complex engineering capabilities and B2B client requirements. In this role, you will partner closely with prospective manufacturing clients to analyze their coating, material handling, and throughput needs. You will act as the primary technical advisor during the sales cycle, designing custom equipment configurations and communicating our advanced automated capabilities to close multi-stakeholder industrial capital equipment contracts.

While our corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility are in Tama, Iowa, semi-remote arrangements will be considered for experienced technical sales professionals living within our primary target industrial markets (such as the Midwest manufacturing belt or major industrial hubs).

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Scoping & Configuration: Consult with client engineers, procurement teams, and plant managers to analyze factory layouts, part specifications, and application requirements. Recommend tailored liquid, powder, or automated conveyor line configurations.
• Proposal & Estimate Development: Collaborate with the internal engineering and costing departments to prepare detailed cost estimates, return-on-investment (ROI) data, and technical specifications for custom capital equipment projects.
• Technical Presentations: Deliver comprehensive technical presentations and proposals explaining the mechanics, fluid handling, and PLC/automation benefits of Deimco systems.
• Deal Management: Lead the technical components of long, specification-driven sales cycles from initial discovery and RFPs to final contract closure.
• Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Act as the liaison between the customer and Deimco's mechanical/electrical engineering and fabrication teams to ensure customer requirements are exactly engineered into the final custom line.
• Market Expansion: Discover and cultivate high-quality B2B sales leads in key target manufacturing verticals (metal fabrication, wood finishing, plastics, aerospace, automotive).

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a highly related technical field (relevant industrial capital sales experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
• Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer, Application Engineer, or Technical Sales Representative working with heavy machinery, industrial automation, fluid handling, or finishing systems.
• Technical Skills:
• • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and redlining engineering drawings and facility blueprints.
  • Deep understanding of industrial manufacturing processes, automation systems, or pneumatic/fluid control.
  • Knowledge of powder coating booths, spray technologies, or cure ovens is highly preferred.
• Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the unique ability to explain complex automated operations to both technical engineers and business executives.
• Hybrid Structure: A remote or hybrid candidate must have a proven track record of autonomous field sales. You will work from a home office but will be expected to travel regularly to client production facilities for site consultations, as well as make periodic visits to our Iowa headquarters for engineering alignment and product training.
• Travel: Willingness to travel to client production facilities across North America for site visits, plant walkthroughs, startups, and technical sales pitches.
