Title: 20 Teachers for 6th Grade Camp Position Type: 2025-2026 Anticipated Openings/ Certified Staff Date Posted: 2/25/2026 Date Available: 05/04/2026 Responsibilities Observe and follow all Hackensack BOE and Camp Mason policies. Maintain all AM cabin, Flag Pole, Dining Hall and PM cabin attendance records. Supervise all assigned aspects of the campers' day including morning reveille, cabin clean‑up, meal times, rest hour, evening activities, bed‑time and after hours. Responsible for student/camper safety and security in cabin (must remain in cabin overnight). Responsible for cleanliness of cabin facilities. Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving in the group. Develop opportunities for interaction between campers and staff. Provide opportunities for the group so each individual experiences success during camp. Provide opportunities for discussion of individual or group problems/concerns. Help students meet the goals established by the camp for camper development. Carry out established roles for supervising camper health. Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations. Develop cabin or unit activity plans with participants as appropriate. Instruct campers in emergency procedures such as fire drills, evacuating the cabin, etc. Help campers plan their participation in unit‑wide or camp‑wide programs, special events, and activities. Assist in teaching or leading an activity, as assigned. Prepare for and actively participate in staff training, meetings, and supervisory conferences. Responsible for setting a good example for campers in regards to punctuality, sharing clean‑up and chores, sportsmanship, and table manners. Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities. Manage personal time off in accordance with camp policy. Submit all required reports on time (prior to Friday's departure). To fulfill other duties as may be required/assigned by Camp Director. Qualifications Must be available to chaperone both weeks as assigned by Principal and Camp Director. Desire and ability to work with children outdoors. Ability to accept supervision and guidance responsibilities. Ability to assist in teaching an activity. Good character, integrity, and adaptability. Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self‑control. CPR Certification recommended but not required. Camp experience considered, but not required.
