JOB GOAL: To assist the teacher in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students RESPONSIBLE TO: PrincipalQUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Health Certification on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made)
- Experience working with children and/or teens
- Experience in using various computers and computer programs
- Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
- Prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking
- Repetitive motions
- Physical exertion to manually move, pull, or push heavy objects or materials
- Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds unassisted
- Stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, and turning
- Frequent work in noisy, crowded, stressful environments with numerous interruptions
- Must work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
TERMS:
- At will
- Term of assignment is 9 months
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Support the district’s vision, mission, and values
- Implement all policies and statutes as determined by various governmental agencies, the Kansas State Department of Education, and the local board of education
- Assist in establishing a positive learning environment, and respond to the individual educational needs of students
- Operate all classroom equipment
- Assist with individual and small group instruction as directed by the classroom teacher
- Grade papers, assist with record keeping, and prepare instructional materials and supplies for use as directed by the classroom teacher
- Attend staff meetings as required
- Work effectively with students, teachers, parents, community agencies, and other groups
- Keep current on new information, innovative ideas and techniques
- Keep student information and records confidential
- Respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner
- Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community
- React to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, and handle other tasks as assigned
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the teacher, principal, or other administrative staff
