Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will document the company’s financial transactions, prepare financial statements, and manage payroll. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has a strong understanding of best practices in accounting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and supporting schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and general ledger analysis.
- Prepare journal entries and month-end/year-end closing activities.
- Assist with audit engagements, including testing transactions and preparing audit workpapers.
- Support tax return preparation for individuals, corporations, partnerships, nonprofits, and housing entities.
- Review invoices, expense reports, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
- Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions.
- Prepare schedules and reports required by management and clients.
- Assist clients with accounting inquiries and requests for financial information.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical client files.
- Participate in client meetings and communicate professionally with clients and team members.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA certification is preferred.
- 0–3 years of accounting, audit, or tax experience.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Yardi, or similar) is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
