As Project Manager I, you will work onsite in Anchorage, AK and will be responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and financial oversight of small-scale design/build and construction projects throughout Alaska. This role manages project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and field operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, within scope, and in full compliance with contract requirements. You will also support higher-level Project Managers and contributes to project development, reporting, and client communication. The position requires periodic travel to remote job sites. How will you do it? Manage all aspects of assigned projects, including estimating, bidding, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, reporting, and day-to-day oversight. Develop project proposals, cost estimates, and bids. Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients and project stakeholders. Coordinate with internal departments, field personnel, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies as required. Assist the Senior Project Manager with project-related tasks and coordination as needed. Oversee project documentation, including start-up records, contracts, commissioning documents, as-built drawings, completion reports, and close-out materials. Manage submittal and approval processes, and review plans, specifications, reports, permits, RFIs, and design change/variance requests. Prepare and review project progress reports outlining materials used, costs incurred, milestones achieved, and schedule adjustments. Ensure job-required documentation—such as safety reports, daily updates, photographs, and timecards is received, accurate, and complete. Procure and schedule materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractor services required to complete project work. Determine labor needs and support the selection and oversight of subcontractors. Coordinate delivery of materials, tools, and equipment, and ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively. Prepare project budgets and track time, costs, and expenses against approved budgets. Analyze project profitability, revenue, and margins and recommend corrective actions when needed. Code and approve project-related invoices and timesheets for payment. Monitor progress at project sites through on-site visits, which may include multi-day and overnight stays. Ensure project milestones and deliverables are completed on schedule. Verify that work is performed in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality standards, and environmental requirements. Support field leadership by providing clarification on plans, specifications, and changes impacting work in the field. Actively support and promote STG’s Health and Safety Program. Monitor compliance with applicable municipal, state, and federal regulations, as well as contract-specific requirements. Respond to safety audits and field observations; modify or suspend work when unsafe conditions or practices are identified. Serve as a point of contact for employees to express health and safety concerns and elevate issues appropriately. Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. Work as a "team player" with coworkers in a respectful and supportive manner. Maintain professional relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and partner organizations. Seek and participate in development and training opportunities to enhance project management skills and industry knowledge. Supervisory Functions: This position supervises the work of project management support staff, project foremen, and laborers assigned to its projects. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Strong understanding of construction methods, terminology, drawings, specifications, and industry practices. Proficient in Microsoft Project and experienced with project scheduling and reporting tools. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Able to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, plans, and specifications. Skilled in preparing budgets, tracking costs, reviewing project ledgers, and forecasting project financial performance. Familiarity with procurement rules, material sourcing, and subcontractor coordination. Strong ability to evaluate data, forecast outcomes, identify issues, and recommend solutions. Excellent verbal, written, graphical, and presentation communication abilities; able to interact professionally with clients and internal teams. Able to build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and field personnel; strong follow-through and accountability. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates sound judgment, integrity, and ethical behavior with customers, vendors, and coworkers. Able to adjust to changes in scope, schedule, priorities, and environmental conditions. Able to detect issues, evaluate information, and resolve problems resourcefully. Competent with calculations involving budgets, measurements, quantities, and financial analysis. Able to enforce policies, procedures, safety requirements, and regulatory standards. Ability to travel to remote Alaska job sites (up to 20%). Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and directly related project management experience required. One (1) or more years of construction project management experience, including budgeting, cost estimating, or financial tracking required. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and project management software required. Valid state driver’s license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Company’s Driving Policy. Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screenings. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with HCCS "HeavyBid" software preferred. Project Management certification (e.g., CAPM, PMP) preferred. Experience with USACE specifications, requirements, and project execution is preferred. Knowledge of remote Alaska logistics, construction practices, and mechanical work preferred. Working Environment: Company has a fast-paced, multi-tasking work environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance while managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines. Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with regular work at indoor and outdoor construction sites throughout Alaska. The position may be exposed to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, construction-related noise, dust, equipment, and other conditions typical of active construction sites. Travel to remote job sites is required and may involve extended periods away from the office, including multi-day and overnight stays. Adaptability regarding changing project conditions, schedules, priorities, and design requirements is necessary, and extended workdays, evenings, weekends, or occasional overtime may be required based on project and business needs.
