Job Description The Director of School Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for Elwyn Davidson School, ensuring the efficient, compliant, and effective operation of the school's educational and support services. This position oversees the school's daily operations, supervises the Principal and other assigned leaders, manages operational resources, ensures regulatory compliance, and promotes collaboration across educational, clinical, and administrative functions. The Director of School Operations serves as a member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for creating an environment that supports exceptional student services while ensuring operational excellence, financial stewardship, and organizational sustainability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operational Leadership Provide overall operational leadership for the school. Supervise and support the Principal and other assigned leaders in achieving organizational goals. Establish performance expectations and conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports. Lead the school's leadership team in developing and executing operational priorities. Ensure effective coordination among educational, clinical, administrative, and support departments. Serve as the senior operational leader in the absence of the Executive Director. School Operations Direct the daily administrative and operational functions of the school. Oversee staffing coordination, scheduling, transportation, facilities, environmental services, safety, security, and emergency preparedness. Ensure adequate operational support to meet student and program needs. Monitor enrollment, admissions, and census in collaboration with school leadership. Develop, implement, and monitor operational policies, procedures, and workflows. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and service delivery. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing school operations. Oversee readiness for licensing reviews, audits, accreditation activities, and regulatory inspections. Monitor compliance with organizational policies, health and safety requirements, risk management standards, and student confidentiality requirements. Develop corrective action plans when necessary and ensure timely implementation. Leadership and Staff Development Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership development to the Principal and other assigned leaders. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives. Promote employee engagement and organizational effectiveness. Financial and Resource Management Assist in developing and managing the school's annual operating budget. Monitor operational expenditures and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved resource utilization. Oversee procurement and operational contracts as assigned. Ensure responsible stewardship of school assets and resources. Family and Community Engagement Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, school districts, community partners, and external stakeholders. Participate in meetings regarding significant operational, administrative, or customer service issues. Represent the school and Elwyn in community and professional settings as assigned. Quality Improvement Lead operational quality improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, compliance, customer satisfaction, and organizational performance. Develop and monitor key performance indicators related to operations. Utilize data to inform decision-making and support continuous improvement efforts. Promote innovation and best practices throughout the organization. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience in education, healthcare, nonprofit, or human services operations. Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience leading managers or senior-level staff. Demonstrated experience managing complex operations, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams Experience in special education, approved private schools, or nonprofit educational organizations. Knowledge of Pennsylvania educational regulations and school operations. Experience leading operational improvement and compliance initiatives. Experience collaborating with clinical and educational professionals.
