Job Description

Title: Registered Nurse – Med-Surgical/Stepdown

Schedule: Every other weekend

Assignment Details:

• Daily census: 28 patients
• Ratios: 4:1 days, nights, weekends

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year RN experience
• GA or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with telemetry/cardiac monitoring, post-MI and post-cath care
• Skills in managing cardiac/vasoactive drips and insulin drips
• Proficiency in IV starts and management
• Familiarity with airway/respiratory management including HFNC, BiPAP, CPAP
• Experience in tracheostomy care and chest tube management
• Wound care and blood product administration experience
• Participation in rapid response/code teams

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive patient care to adult and geriatric populations in a med-surgical/stepdown unit.
• Monitor and manage telemetry and cardiac patients, including post-operative care.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapies as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
• Participate in code blue and rapid response situations as a member of the healthcare team.
• Document all care provided accurately in the electronic health record.

Compliance / Notes:

• Full compliance required to start on time; incomplete compliance can delay start.
• All compliance documents due by Tuesday prior to start.
• Maximum RTO: 7 days per contract; no RTOs allowed after offer or onsite.
• Travelers expected to work major holidays that fall during assignment.
