Automotive Mechanic IILocation: Allen Park, MI Work Type: Contract – Full Time Work Arrangement: Onsite Work Schedule: 6:45 AM – 3:30 PM; overtime and weekends may be required.Role Summary:The Automotive Mechanic II will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment and perform vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. This role involves troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, following service procedures, documenting repair work, and collaborating with customers and team members while completing assigned tasks independently.Responsibilities:Maintain vehicle functionality by following repair orders, leader instructions, and inspection requirements.Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions.Replace defective or worn vehicle parts and components.Read, interpret, and follow written service procedures.Maintain accurate vehicle records, service notes, and repair orders.Operate, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment.Coordinate equipment repairs when needed.Participate in daily shop organization and cleanup.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 4 years of work experience as a mechanic.Knowledge of mechanical assembly and the ability to operate shop equipment.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures.Own tools and a rolling toolbox.Availability to work overtime and weekends when required.Preferred Qualifications:Certificate in Automotive Technology or a related field.National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification(s).State mechanic certification(s).Valid driver's license.Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines, and wheel balancers.
