Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 43-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit with an average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 (may flex to 1:6)
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently; collaborate with monitor technicians who serve as the central monitoring station for the North Tower
• Titrate Heparin drips and occasionally Lasix or Bumex; administer set-rate drips including Cardizem and Amiodarone
• Perform and interpret EKGs as needed when PCT support is unavailable
• Manage a high-volume unit with approximately 8–12 admissions and 8–12 discharges per day, independently completing admission and discharge processes
• Participate in the float rotation as needed, receiving only patient assignments within your skillset

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in good standing
• Current BLS certification (required)
• Current ACLS certification (required)
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• Experience caring for cardiac patients including post-heart cath, CHF, COPD, arrhythmias, and post-pacer patients
• Comfort with Heparin titration and drip management

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience on a cardiac stepdown or telemetry unit in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with high-flow oxygen therapy and supportive BiPAP/CPAP management
• Willingness and ability to serve in a charge nurse role if comfortable and unit needs arise
