Job Title: Charge RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current Registered Nurse license required Certifications: Current BLS certification, Current ACLS certification, PALS certification required Must-Have: - Knowledge of medications and correct administration based on age and clinical condition - Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment and reassess patients as per policy - Ability to manage a ventilator and telemetry monitoring - Experience managing insulin drips - Strong communication skills with healthcare team members - Flexibility to function in stressful situations - Professionalism in patient care and interactions Description: The Charge RN provides direct and indirect patient care in the ICU setting. The RN communicates with physicians, Nursing Director, and coworkers regarding changes in patients' clinical conditions. The RN responds quickly and accurately to changes in patient conditions or treatment responses. The RN performs general nursing duties with adequate supervision across departments. Competency in medication knowledge and administration is essential. The RN formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness. Pain management assessment techniques are utilized. The RN demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring and identifies dysrhythmias. Professional communication with healthcare team members is required. The RN addresses psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families. Documentation must meet current standards and policies. The RN manages equipment safely and correctly and coordinates patient care. Maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements is crucial. The RN participates in quality improvement activities. Basic computer knowledge is necessary for this role. The position requires physical stamina to perform the duties effectively. The work environment may involve exposure to mechanical parts and moderate noise levels.
