Account Manager

The Strategic Account Manager serves as a primary point of contact for customers of our hot-dip galvanizing facility. This role manages day-to-day customer communication, provides accurate pricing and lead-time information, and works closely with production to coordinate incoming work and delivery commitments. The Strategic Account Manager also partners with outside sales to strengthen customer relationships, identify new opportunities, and grow the business. This position is based on-site at the Ohio facility because daily, direct communication with production is essential to serving customers and keeping work moving. Duties Include: Serve as a primary contact for customer questions, order updates, pricing requests, material preparation requirements, lead times, and delivery schedules. Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers through timely follow-up, problem-solving, and in-person visits as needed. Stay current on pricing, review quote requests, and coordinate internally to provide accurate and competitive pricing to customers. Partner with outside sales on customer opportunities, follow up on leads and quotes, and help grow business with new and existing accounts. Work directly with production to understand capacity, priorities, and order status; communicate realistic commitments and promptly address changes that affect customers. Prepare production work orders for incoming material and coordinate customer needs with daily production schedules. Prepare bills of lading and other required shipping documents, and coordinate customer pickups. Track daily sales activity and contribute to monthly forecasts and budget reviews. Assist with accounts receivable follow-up when needed. Maintain accurate customer, order, and pricing records. High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred. Five or more years of sales or account management experience preferred. Experience in galvanizing, steel, fabrication, or another manufacturing environment is a plus. Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to understand pricing, manage competing priorities, and follow through on customer commitments. Strong organization, basic math, and computer skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with production, shipping, and outside sales. Ability to travel for customer visits, primarily day trips with occasional overnight travel.
