Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Externship Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital allows veterinary students to gain day‑to‑day practice experience, learn clinical skills, and develop communication proficiency with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Most externship experiences at Bogey Hills Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Responsibilities Gather patient histories Perform physical examinations Create treatment plans Assist and observe diagnostics Participate in dentistry services Assist or perform surgical procedures Manage medical care of patients Practice communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients Eligibility and Stipend Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
